A trout Gita Georgia - Fishing in Heart of Gold Country

At the gates of Dahlonega, Georgia and one hour north of Atlanta is the crossroads of small Auraria. Auraria is now, and its old buildings have been abandoned over the dustbin of history. But once was the center of America's first true gold rush. In 1830 Auraria created to meet the needs of the miners who flocked there after the discovery of gold in 1829. To date marked the hills and woods around this intersection, remained with the long trenches and the gatesome artifact of those days. As a child I would wander these woods (my family had a farm 2 miles from Auraria) and you'll find many of these items. Once I found the hand-wrought iron spikes, which once had secured a lock. Later, I found the long-forgotten graves of several miners, the realization of their dreams of wealth among the hills of Georgia is dead. Fishermen visit the area now to find a possibility of a nugget of gold at their feet, as they cast the line ... You neversa.

Auraria is also near the Etowah River, which up to Castleberry Bridge Road and the "T" of the old Auraria Road and Castleberry Bridge Road .. The Etowah is in my opinion one of the most beautiful rivers in Georgia. It is not particularly large, not dramatic, but I always found a certain peace on its banks, which reminds me at times, like an old friend. The Etowah is stocked weekly during the trout stocking season, and there may be a bit 'in the area where it is closelycrossed by Castleberry Bridge Road. But do not forget, which is conserved in all the way up-stream on Hightower Church Road (County Road 72). To take a short hike and you will soon find that you have the power to yourself.

If you want to stay, there are many options available in Dahlonega near highway 400, or the city itself Dahlonega. Auraria close at Dahlonega, take Highway 400 to Burnt Stand Road (west) and continue until it changes with the Old AurariaRoad. Follow Old Auraria Road, north a few miles until you see the three-way intersection Castleberry Bridge and Old Auraria Road, where you will, a plaque, an old abandoned hotel and decadent, and the store that currently exist.

Fishing the Etowah and visit to the Auraria / Dahlonega area make for a great weekend of trout fishing. The banks of the Etowah are usually covered a bit 'as you move away from the north of the bridge, then use a fly rod in the shortThe adaptation to this condition. Spin-rolls should be able to larger pools or slow stream to find a variety of artificial baits. Check before fishing, you are going to check with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Web site, be sure to follow all the rules and local regulations. The Georgia DNR has an excellent map of the resources here. As usual, leaving no trace behind a litter and if you make sure to pick and pack out
